News for you to start processing now: People have started to really, really like Crocs. And to be clear, we’re talking about the non-slip squishy clogs your dad wears in the summer, specifically. (Crocs does make other shoes, like cute, beachy sandals and colorful pool slides, but that’s not what we’re discussing here.)
In case there’s any confusion, here are the ones I mean:
People like them so much that sales of the Crocs Classic Clog on Amazon have gone up almost 12,000,000 percent. 12. MILLION. PERCENT. That’s a lot of percent. How do we know this? Well from Amazon’s Movers & Shakers list, duh. That’s where the retailer reports upticks in consumer interest. But enough about that—let’s move on to conspiracy theories.
I’m going to go ahead and attribute the rise in the comfy sandal’s popularity to
brainwashing a few relevant factors:
- The “ugly” shoe trend—aka bulky styles like Birkenstocks and chunky-soled dad sneakers—taking over your Instagram feed via bloggers and celebs.
- VSCO girls.
- Post Malone’s collab with them that completely sold out.
- And Priyanka Chopra Jonas’s Crocs ambassadorship.
I mean, just look at these Instagrams!
And then also feast on these pics of Priyanka that are on the Crocs page of Amazon:
Immediate thoughts: She looks great! And she’s wearing Crocs? Seafoam green is a very serene color. Do I need Crocs?
So…what I’m saying here is that Priyanka and Post Malone are definitely at the heart of this. Also, I may or may not be buying some Crocs as we speak.
