Look, I get it: You’re a tad skeptical when a celeb drops a beauty line. I mean, there are so many celebrity-endorsed products on the market right now that it’s kinda impossible to tell which ones are actually legit. But Lauren Conrad launched her very own beauty collection today, and you can trust me when I say it’s, like, really effing good.
Yup, Lauren Conrad Beauty is officially a ~thing~, and I have a feeling you’re going to want to try it ASAP. The first drop includes a solid curation of color cosmetics—a liquid eyeliner, a matte lipstick, a liquid highlighter, a shiny lip gloss, and a lip/cheek tint—that are formulated with clean ingredients and eco-friendly materials (seriously, you can even recycle the lipstick tube without any disassembly).
And, lucky for you, I hopped on the phone with Lauren before the big launch to find out everything you need to know about the products and, spoiler alert, what you can expect next.
On entering the beauty industry:
“I’ve wanted to do a beauty line for a really long time—it was really just a matter of finding the right partners and the right situation. I’ve actually started and stopped this process several times, where we’d start talking to someone and sampling products, and it just didn’t feel like the right partnership.
“I wanted to be involved in every step and develop a line that I felt really passionate about. I had a checklist that I needed someone to be able to get on board with: I wanted to do a line that was clean, vegan, eco-friendly, and ethically sourced. And we did.”
On her favorite products from the line:
“We’re going to be expanding quite a bit, but we wanted to launch with a nice introduction to the brand. We released five products you can put together a whole look with, something you can have fun with. I love that The Lip and Cheek Tint is such a multitasker—it’s something I can throw in my bag or keep at my desk to refresh my look midway through the day. It’s subtle, it’s got a sheen to it, and it just gives me a little bit of glow. It’s a nice touch-up.
“I’m not really doing a liquid line every day right now, but when I do, I love The Liquid Eyeliner. I spent a lot of time working on the team with the formula and the packaging, and it’s definitely what I had been looking for in an eyeliner. I’m hoping others will feel the same.”

On using eco-friendly materials:
“Because we were starting from the beginning and we had a lot of time to design the line, I wanted our approach to be as eco-friendly as possible. I had the team do as much research as possible, educate me on all of the options out there, and then design into that—as opposed to designing a line and then seeing which eco-friendly options worked for it. All of the secondary packaging is tree-free—we use sugar cane remnants—and even the inks we use are eco-friendly.
“Our lipstick tube is awesome because once you’re done with the product you can put it directly into the recycling bin. It doesn’t require any disassembling, which a lot of other products do. Because at the end of the day, you have to ask the question: Are people actually going to recycle their products? And we wanted to do as much as we could to encourage that. On our website there’s a link with step-by-step instructions for recycling every product—we figured the more information we could give people, the easier.”
On how quarantine is affecting her beauty routine:
“I’m definitely wearing less makeup right now, which has been nice for a few reasons. I think it’s actually made me enjoy my beauty routine a little more. When I have a Zoom call or I’m doing something where I have to be on camera, I think I enjoy putting on my makeup. And, like a lot of people, it’s also allowed me to get more into skincare.”
On what’s next for Lauren Conrad Beauty:
“We’re actually going to include skincare in the line as we continue to grow. I’ve been testing our formulas for a while now—I wanted to use them longterm to make sure I was happy with everything. We’ll be launching a cleanser, a toner mist, and a vitamin C oil, which I really love. I’ve had melasma for years, so I have a lot of discoloration on my face. Anything that brightens, I’m really excited about.”
