Sex toy shopping can be a daunting task for anyone, but for trans, non-binary, and GNC folx, it can be even more so, explains sex educator Buck Angel. There’s already a sense of stigma and shame around self-pleasure, and for trans people who may have another degree of anxiety around toy shopping, that can be even more discouraging.

It’s also worth noting that many trans and GNC people also struggle with gender dysmorphia which can make the process of shopping for sex toys even harder. “A disconnect with your genitals means you also have a disconnect with sex,” Angel explains. “If you have never met or been intimate with a trans person, you might not know that if we are taking hormones, our genitals change. My clitoris grew to about the size of my thumb. There were no products that were made to fit me. Some trans men do not take hormones, so they do not have growth, and some GNC people can go either way,” Angel notes. “That said, our genitals are usually something we have a hard time connecting to.”
It’s for these reasons that the inclusion of sex toys and products for the trans and GNC community is so especially important. “[Seeing] ‘trans’ on anything just makes you feel like you are cared for,” Angel explains. “A lot more shops are making sections for trans and GNC people, and this shows that they are hearing us,” Angel adds. If you’re looking for more info on sex toys for trans or GNC folx, here are a few of the buzziest products worth keeping on your radar.
1. Adjustable Cock Ring
Truly adjustable cock rings where you can reposition and adjust the bead that clinches and tightens the ring are great options for FTM folx. “I always loved the idea of using a cock ring but nothing was made for trans guys like me,” Angel adds. “Because trans men who have not had bottom surgery have a smaller penis size, the clitoris grows from testosterone, making this design perfect,” Angel says. “It does not slip off and you can see your trans cock enlarge. I use it to penetrate as well as just stroke my hard clit. It’s amazing!”
2. Lube Shooter
Another great FTM toy that Angel recommends is really more of an essential: the lube shooter. This is great for when you need an extra squirt of lube inside to help. “Sometimes trans men can get dry because of the use of testosterone and the imbalance in hormones,” Angel says, and this is clutch for helping with that. Some trans men enjoy penetration, but dry penetration isn’t pleasurable and might even turn you off of penetration by itself. With a lube shooter, you can nip that in the bud quickly and go on playing without worrying about being wet enough. This model in particular can convert most standard lube bottle caps into an all-in-one shooter for even easier use.
The Ohnut is a stackable set of silicone rings that can act as a buffer to control penetration depth to ixnay painful sex. Post-operative trans women may find this product especially helpful to avoid the painful sensation of “hitting a wall” post-op with a partner. The Ohnut can also slide onto a dilator for male-to-female gender affirmation surgery.
Amy Stein, a physical therapist at Beyond Basics Physical Therapy, recommends the Ohnut for its versatility in facilitating pleasurable sexual activity for both partners. “When it comes to gender affirmation surgery, there’s always a risk of complication. It’s not a perfect science, so because of that, the opening or the length of the opening is not always what they want it to be for their partners,” she explains.
4. b-Vibe Rimming Petite Plug
The great thing about butt toys is that everyone has a butt. Regardless of gender identity, anuses are universal and can be pleasurable for everybody. Alicia Sinclair, CEO of b-vibe, says, “Anal play is not for any ‘one type’ of person. It’s an accessible, inclusive, and uniquely universal pleasure option. The anal sphincter is an incredibly sensitive muscle, and anyone—no matter their gender—can enjoy different stimulating sensations. Every body has a butt, after all!”
This vibrating, remote-controlled butt plug also includes rotating beads in the shaft of the plug to simulate the sensation of being rimmed. Go for the petite size first, unless you know you’re a butt-play pro.
5. Wild Flower Enby
Amy Boyajian (they/them), cofounder and CEO of Wild Flower, explains that the inspiration behind the gender-neutral Enby toy came from a friend who was transitioning and commented on how they now had to throw out all their toys after their body had changed. Enter Enby, a universally inclusive toy that you can hump, flex to make into a masturbation sleeve, tuck inside a harness, and easily slip between bodies.
The Shotpocket is a minimalist-chic silicone sleeve handmade for trans masc people by trans masc people in a studio in Toronto. The inconspicuous masturbator sleeve might not look like a sex toy, but that can work to its benefit—maybe it’s just a stress ball! It’s also ribbed on the inside and works best with a water-based lube for maximum comfort and pleasure.
Angel’s own product, the Buck-Off, is a masturbator designed specifically for trans men on hormones with enlarged clitorises. Trans women who have not had bottom surgery and GNC people can use the Buck-Off as well. The Buck-Off is designed to look like a small penis when you put it over your clitoris, so it not only feels great but can also help relieve dysphoria, Angel adds.
8. Kiss X
The smaller version of the Buck-Off, the Kiss X is perfect for someone who is not taking hormones and cisgender women. The Kiss X has a smaller hole and was developed after the success of the original Buck-Off, which launched in 2016.
9. Picobong Transformer
The Transformer toy from Picobong (Lelo’s more affordable line) was developed to be as versatile as possible, explains Stu Nugent, brand expert at Lelo. The Transformer toy has two vibrating ends and a bendable middle so the toy can easily go from Rabbit vibrator, clitoral massager, penis ring, prostate ring, or double-ended dildo.
