PlayStation Network Faces Hours-Long Outage Starting Friday Evening.
Sony’s PSN status page reports ongoing issues affecting account management, gaming and social features, PlayStation Video, PlayStation Store, and the PlayStation Direct website.
Although PlayStation users can still enjoy offline games, the outage has disrupted online features for titles like Fortnite, Call of Duty, Grand Theft Auto, and Marvel Rivals.
PlayStation acknowledged the issue on its support page and assured users that a fix is in progress.
DownDetector data shows the issue started late Friday night, with over 71,000 users reporting the outage.
By 6:40 p.m., nearly 70,000 users had reported outages on DownDetector.com, but by 10 p.m., that number had dropped to just over 15,000.
Many gamers on social media report ongoing issues, as PlayStation’s support channels are inundated with complaints from users worldwide.
At 7 p.m., PlayStation issued an alert stating that users may experience difficulties signing in or creating a PlayStation Network account. The company assured players that a fix is underway and thanked them for their patience.
The outage has prevented Call of Duty players from taking advantage of its promotional weekend, which featured double XP in Black Ops 6 and Warzone.
BBC News has reached out to both PlayStation and Call of Duty developer Activision Blizzard for a statement.
