Langham Hospitality Group announced plans for a new hotel in Venice, which is scheduled to open in 2023. The Langham, Venice will be the group’s first property in Italy and its third overall in Europe.
With its direct frontage on the Venetian Lagoon, the 138-key hotel is located on the island of Murano. The Langham, Venice will be housed in the former Casino Mocenigo, which can trace its legacy to the early 1600s.
Milan-based architecture and design studio Matteo Thun & Partners has been appointed to oversee the renovations at The Langham, Venice. Guests can expect modern amenities in addition to frescoes and water views from its lagoon frontage. A defining architectural feature of The Langham is the courtyard, which will showcase the outdoor swimming pool and manicured garden, as well as outdoor dining spaces.
When the hotel opens, guests may look forward to two restaurants serving a selection of cuisines and a cooking school where guests can learn the art of fine Italian cuisine. Al fresco bars, one of which will be located on the rooftop, will set the scene for social celebrations, large and small.

Also available at the hotel will be the group’s signature Chuan Spa, providing wellness therapies and treatments based on the ancient healing philosophies of Traditional Chinese Medicine, in addition to a fully equipped fitness center, a ballroom and multifunction rooms.
The Langham, Venice is located on the southeastern shore of Murano and is well-positioned for exploring Basilica dei Santa Maria e San Donato, the Mueso del Vetro (glass museum) and renowned foundries that have existed for centuries and are still producing to this day high-quality artisanal pieces by glass maestros.
The Langham, Venice, the company says, is “a significant breakthrough” in its European expansion strategy as it joins the flagship The Langham, London and The Langham Nymphenburg Residence, Munich. Among the 30 future locations for The Langham brand in the pipeline are Paris and Berlin, as well as Tokyo, San Francisco, Jakarta, Gold Coast and Chengdu.
